North Circuit

Day 1: Salta - Santa Rosa de Tastil - San Antonio de los Cobres – Salinas Grandes - Purmamarca

We departure from Salta and do the parallel path of the Train to the Clouds by the Quebrada del Toro. As one ascends, the landscape changes and the presence of cacti (cactus) and grassland make as frame to entering to the altiplano. Above 3000 masl are the archaeological ruins of Santa Rosa de Tastil. The walk continues until arriving at the renowned miner town San Antonio de los Cobres. After lunch the circuit spans the arid and imposing landscape of the Puna, that impacting us with its particular beauty and unique attractions like the vast sea of salt known as "Salinas Grandes". After reaching 4170 masl, we descend by the majestic Cuesta de Lipan, which leads directly to the final destination of the day, Purmamarca (Jujuy), where the Cerro de Siete Colores welcomes us.

Night in Purmamarca

Day 2: Purmamarca - Tilcara - Uquia - Humahuaca - Salta

In the mornig, we start the day in the morning to make the visit to the Quebrada de Humahuaca. One stop is in Tilcara, where we visit the Pucara, ancient aboriginal fortress and Archaeological Museum. Subsequently we enter to Uquia, visiting the chapel, where the frescoes of Angeles Arcabuceros. The travel continues to Humahuaca, head town of the Quebrada with all its attractions.

We return to Salta by the Montana Forest Road.
