QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA AND HORNOCAL MOUNTAIN RANGE FULL DAY

Itinerary
We cross the Quebrada de Humahuaca to Purmamarca, where the attractive shades of the Cerro de 7 Colores receive us. Next we can observe the Cerro Paleta del Pintor that resembles an oil painting with reddish, greenish and ocher traces. The trip continues to Tilcara, where We enter to the Pucará, an old indigenous fortress reconstructed for its interpretation and the Archaeological Museum. The next stop corresponds to the Town of Uquia, we visit its chapel to apreciatte the paintings of the arcabuceros of the cuzqueña school, that remind us the colonial period of the region, integrating the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru. After stopping at the monolith of the Tropic of Capricorn in Huacalera, we arrive to Humahuaca where we meet the magnificient Independence Monument, in its bottom, we find the main square, the San Francisco Solano`s  Cucu Clock and the ancient Cathedral. Humahuaca is ideal to stop and have lunch in a typical restaurant enjoying local folk artists performing altiplánica music with traditional instruments. After lunch, a high rugged terrain lead us to the magnificent Hornocal mountain range with their colorful geometric shapes in V evidencing the name Cerro de 14 colores. Return to Salta along the way traveled.
